When the dishes are washed and the kitchen sink is neat and tidy, you have to deal with a hefty man of the house in a modern family. I know this by experience because even though I have small dishes, the sink is always tidy. Neat and tidy, says Mrs. Franken, who had to teach me the tricks of the trade, because before she died I didn’t do any housework, except when my Geertje became very ill, of course. I found this clean countertop in Toronto where I was staying with a brother of Pieter and his lovely wife and their two children who had already left home….
