1909-11-29 Elizabeth to Ena Stuit

Monday, 1909-11-29. From Elizabeth Stuit to Ena Stuit.

Beloved sister,

We received your letter and learned that you are healthy, which makes us very glad. We too are all in good health. Redmer is going to school for the first time this morning in Nieuwolda. Jan is taking him.

We sold our sheep for 12 1/2 guilders and also the hay for 57 1/2 guilders. The hay is not gone yet. I bought half a dozen cups and saucers and a sugar pot and 3 plates for fl. 1.29.

We are so glad that you are coming home for Christmas. Do you have enough money for the trip? Don’t write back right away. This week or next week I will send you about five more dimes in a letter, I think I can manage that. You should really write to Catheriene. She can’t believe that you haven’t written her or sent her a postcard. First thing when I come to the club it’s always: how is Ena? When you do write to her please do write neatly. Forgive me for saying that.

I’ll write again soon. Trijntje didn’t come yesterday. No wonder, the weather was bad. Lots of greetings from the girls. And from all of us.

Your loving sister Elizabeth.

Please don’t eat too much ‘koek’ and St. Nikolaas or you will get a toothache.
