Opa Dekker in Canada

Herman de Jong

~ Monday

The weather has suddenly turned. When Opa wakes up in the morning, he hears the wind howling around the house and gusts of rain slamming against the window. So it can be like that here too! When he comes downstairs, the whole family sits gloomily around the kitchen table. They had wanted to show Opa some of the beautiful surroundings, but that will have to wait. “Well, it looks like I’ve brought some Dutch weather with me,” Opa tries to cheer them up a bit, “people, you’re not in sackcloth and ashes over such a bit of rain, are you? Come on, I’ll have a raisin bun and then we’ll get out of here.”
